Boy, do I love Carlisle!
I mean I really love Carlisle and this year’s Carlisle was no exception! Jam
packed full of new Corvette related products from all our Corporate Members.
It’s like walking into a candy store wanting to taste the sweetness of each
piece, but knowing they were all in wrappers and you can’t lick ‘em! That’s how
I felt as I walked amongst our Corporate Member booths salivating at the
hundreds upon hundreds of “PARTS” to enhance your Corvette!
It’s always great to visit with Mid America Motorworks [Corporate Member# XC024]
who’s leading sponsorship of Corvettes at Carlisle was once again
outstanding! Mike Yeager’s excitement and energy, along with his enthusiastic
commitment to Corvettes at Carlisle, has really put
this event over the top! Mid America’s tent was standing room only all weekend.
Craig Chapman’s West Coast Corvettes [Corporate Member# WC014] tractor trailer
set up was ideal for the booming business I witnessed during this year’s event.
Ernie Francis was busier than a one-armed bandit at his beautiful Breathless
Performance [Corporate Member# XC030] booth installing every conceivable item
that they were offering to members. David Walker of ZIP Products [Corporate
Member# ZC059] booth seemed to have the products that were “in demand” by the
constant flow of members in and out of his location. And, of course, our friend
Scott Kohn of Corvette Central [Corporate Member# WC003] who has been a friend
of the Registry since February 1998, was passing out catalogs of their fabulous
Corvette accessories to everyone visiting their booth.
I can see the smiles from here over at the CORSA [Corporate Member# WC006],
Bassani Xhaust [Corporate Member# LC063] and Borla Performance Industries
[Corporate Member# ZC058] booths as their products were being installed in “mass
quantity” by every vendor that could install them for the drooling and
discriminating Corvette customer. It’s obvious that everyone loves a different
sound,and exhaust sound, in this case, is in the ear of the beholder!
As hard as I tried, I just couldn’t make it to every Corporate Member’s booth
that was there, but hopefully you did!

That
was the buzz on “The Hill” at Carlisle! Members were so pumped to have
Reeves Callaway, the legend amongst Corvette owners, sharing with all of
us at a special 10:00 am Saturday morning seminar about Callaway’s
shift……from turbocharged Corvettes to SUPERCHARGED Corvettes.
Callaway decided to celebrate its twentieth year of constructing special
high performance Corvettes by announcing the 2007 model year Callaway
SuperCharged Corvette. I felt that the really big news was that
they are now available from an expanding network of Callaway
Authorized Dealers, which are specially selected Chevrolet dealerships
that are fully equipped to provide service, financing and warranty
support. All Callaway Corvettes are prepared at the Callaway Cars
facility in Old Lyme, Connecticut. A second assembly location, located
in Southern California and managed by Reeves Callaway’s son, Peter, is
scheduled to begin manufacturing early next year.
The 560 horsepower Callaway SuperCharged Corvette exceeds the
performance of the new 505 HP Z06 Corvette and can be configured as
either Coupe or Convertible, and may be equipped with eithermanual or
paddle-shift automatic transmission. |
