The 7th Annual Birthday Bash was a sensational success!

Every member I ran into had this HUGE SMILE after having a chance to ride in a 400 HP next generation C6 (in most cases it was the first  saleable Le Mans Blue Convertible VIN # 3 or Wil Cooksey's C6 Precision Red Coupe Z51 6-Spd. VIN # 23). Everyone was celebrating their ride with praises, especially as it related to all of the improvements that they personally felt were made for them. The chant of David Hill's teams successes were murmuring throughout the halls of the National Corvette Museum. We want to thank David Hill and GM for listening to our members who shared with them ideas and input over the many years at Registry events. Members, we've been told that the letters you have written, the emails you have sent, the discussions on our C5Net, but most of all your one on one conversations at our events between yourselves and the Corvette engineering team have all contributed to the evolution of this newest generation Corvette.

Everyone is in agreement that Corvette's lineage is well represented with the C6 styling and technological improvements. For the last two years Dan and I have been searching for a way to have trackside events for our C5 members. We're committed to the idea that these events would enhance the Registry experience, allowing members to find out firsthand what their C5s are capable of...that they would not normally experience in a daily commute.

We've known Reese Cox for a few years and he has taken track events or his MTI Racing customers past the chatter stage to the performance stage. Reese invites his customers to participate in weekend track events and provides each with their own personal instruction. Reese's concept has grown to eight track events per year. Six are at the well-known Road Atlanta course in Braselton, GA, followed by one at VIRginia International Raceway in Alton, VA and one at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. A weekend's adventure costs $500.

These participants travel in their own C5s to these tracks and receive driving instruction from Reese. In addition, the fee includes support for your C5 by the astute MTI "PIT" Crew during this fabulous experience. Through instruction and hands-on participation in your own C5, it's Reese's belief that your driving skills will be improved and your confidence level will be elevated. There's no doubt you and your C5 wil become one! The Registry is planning to dovetail into one of Reese's upcoming events. Continue checking our Upcoming Events site on the web at www.c5registry.com/events.htm  for the latest trackside details. Reese treats his customers to a special one-day MTI Racing "Customer Appreciation Day." He believes strongly in providing his customers with skillful enjoyment. This MTI appreciation is held at the Talladega Grand Prix Raceway which is located two miles from the  NASCAR SuperSpeedway in Talladega, Alabama.Everyone who knows Reese knows he likes to build fast automobiles, but he also wants his products to be balanced and refined. Reese opened his tuner shop called MTI Racing in Marietta, Georgia almost ten years ago (his tuner shop is not affiliated with the MTI in Houston). He specializes in
the improvement of C5s for street and track driving. Members, you
might be surprised to learn that MTI Racing was the FIRST to build a "C5R Kit Car."

Reese worked with GM's Ken Brown (famous Corvette suspension expert) as well as SCCA to develop Corvette's racing package for professional level non-factory racing teams. Through this connection and development, MTI Racing was able to field a C5R Kit Car at the beginning of the 1999 racing season. According to Reese, many of the other team's C5R Kit Cars did not arrive at the track until the 2000 season.

Reese's MTI upgrades include head and cam packages for both LS-1 and LS-6 engines that pull between 420 to 450 HP at the rear wheels. These are devoid of any blowers, nitrous or superchargers. MTI Corvettes are very drivable and extremely FUN...just ask any of his passionate group of Corvette customers. Just try to catch Reese in his very fast Z06. It's a black on black loud 427! His Z06 serves as MTI Racing's development C5 for new products. Reese also modifies suspension and brake systems. A racer at heart, he knows which springs, shocks, sway bars and brakes provide maximum C5 track performance.
